Day 3

Breakfast- granola, almond milk and banana

For breakfast I tried something new, granola. I wasn't expecting it to be anything special, but it was actually very nice and sweet. It actually had nuts in it which was a good source of protein. I added a banana to pad it out a little.
Lunch- vegan burger and wedges

At lunchtime I had my main meal earlier as I had to be somewhere in the afternoon. I was wondering what to have when I found an unused sweet potato which I decided to cut up into wedges and have with something else. I was looking through the freezer when I found a veggie burger that I had to use. I cooked that and then I put baked beans on the side. It wasn't the healthiest meal ever, but it was definitely tasty. I highly recommend you make sweet potato wedges. It's now my favourite food!
Dinner- 3 weetabix, almond milk and berries
At dinner time I was still full but I had to eat then get out somewhere (again!) and I wouldn't be back until 8pm which would be way to late to eat. I looked in the cupboards for something quick and healthy so I ended up with weetabix. I felt good after knowing I hadn't eat bad ALL day. I think I might of overdone it on the berries though :P.
Snacks- nakd banana bread bar, peach and soy yoghurt

Peta and veganism

I am finding it very common for people to associate veganism with peta. I think peta does a great job with getting the message across with animal cruelty, but sometimes, they take things a bit too far. For example, a few months ago peta brought out an advertisement telling people not to buy dogs from breeders, but get their dogs from shelters.

The problem with this is that not everybody wants a shelter dog. Earlier this year when my family were buying a dog we first looked at the shelter, but they were all larger or aggressive breeds. My parents agreed they wanted a small dog as we didn't have much room in our house. In the end we bought a miniature schnauzer from an experienced breeder in castle ford and we don't regret it. Anyway, this advertisement is also very upsetting as people who already have dogs from breeders, particularly young children, will never look at their dog the same again.
Another example of peta going too far is accusing Mario, a popular video game, of promoting fur. Seriously peta?! I loved this game as little kid, I actually still play it occasionally!
The other day I decided to have a go at this game they created. I played it for about 5 minutes and came to a conclusion... Peta is attention seeking. Peta is definitely out for attention in anyway they can get it. I still somewhat support peta for its effort to abolish animal cruelty, but c'mon, Mario?!

Day 2

Breakfast- marmalade on toast and blueberries
This morning I had marmalade on toast and blueberries. I love marmalade and had a new jar in the fridge so I thought I might as well go for it! Along side the toast I had blueberries, one of my favorite fruits. I had heard that blueberries were one of the best breakfast foods so I felt quite good after eating an ENTIRE packet of blueberries :D!
Lunch- peanut butter and banana sandwich, blackberries and homemade granola bar.
At lunch time I thought I would try something new, peanut butter AND banana sandwich. At first I wasn't too sure but trust me, it's amazing! I had some bits of banana left and I added it to some
blackberries, which was surprisingly, another great combination. The last thing I had was one of my homemade granola bars that are really simple to make and healthy too!

Dinner- spaghetti and... falafels!

If you had read yesterday's entry, you'd probably of noticed I used falafel in my meal. Well tonight, I had to reuse those falafels in some sort of way. In the end I came up with this brilliant idea. Spaghetti and falafels! It's not hard either, you only need spaghetti, sauce and falafels. I added a pita bread to it for something to dip into the tomato sauce. I heated up the falafels and it tasted great. It was tasted nearly like the original recipe. If you haven't already tried this, you simply must!

Snacks- apple, nakd banana bar, soy yoghurt and nectarine.

Day 1

Breakfast- weetabix, almond milk and banana
As a vegan, I must get my calcium from somewhere, so occasionally I will have weetabix and almond milk for breakfast. I always add fruit to make it sweeter and not have to add refined white sugar processed through animal bone char.
Lunch- peanut butter sandwich, berries and homemade granola bar.
At lunch time I had a vegan classic, the peanut butter sandwich. Its super simple, and full of healthy fats. Personally I always have crunchy (who doesn't like crunchy :P?). Along side it I had blueberries and raspberries, two very nutritious fruits, and a homemade granola bar.  If you want to make one of these, here's the link http://minimalistbaker.com/healthy-5-ingredient-granola-bars/.
 Dinner- falafel pitas and broccoli

For dinner I had a falafel pita and broccoli. Falafels are a vegan superfood, you can even make them yourself! They are made of of chickpeas, spices, pulses etc. To make them healthier you could try and bake them and not deep fry them. The pita breads were a good source of carbohydrates, essential for a balanced diet, and the broccoli was full of iron which non vegans/vegetarians get from red meat.

Snacks- alpro soy yoghurt, apple and nakd banana bread bar
